On Sunday, September 17, 28 students arrived at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center to compete in the Strongsville Brown Aveda Institute Scholarship Contest.
After Brown Aveda Institute founder Nancy Brown won her own scholarship, she wanted to ensure other passionate artists had a chance at the same opportunity for a creative, comprehensive education.
Prospective students came ready with their own supplies, products, clothing, and a model to transform. One winner for the Cosmetology program and one for the Esthetics program are chosen to receive a scholarship, which includes full tuition, kit fees, enrollment, and application fees.
After three hours of making over their models, the judges considered the best before and after look for each competition. Cosmetology focused on the best overall fashion, with hairstyle, makeup, and clothing considered. Esthetics centered around the best makeup application for an evening glamour look, along with a submitted essay.
This season, we would like to congratulate Mackenzie Kossow for winning the Cosmetology scholarship, and Victoria Streza for taking home the Esthetics!
We had a fantastic turnout at the contest, and were even able to raise over an estimated $1,000 toward our Earth Month donation. We want to thank everyone who participated in making this event a success, and most importantly, helping to change the future for two talented upcoming artists.
