In September, 2018, the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland took on 50 artists and over 500 guests in a thrilling night of fashion, performance, and all things creative to host RAW Cleveland presents Connect.
Among these artists were three Brown Aveda grads, now stylists for Ladies and Gentlemen Salon and Spa. Emily Eneix, Monica Clark, and Bayley Brown collaborated to produce stunning styles with makeup, hair, and body art, respectively.
Emily tells us, "Between the three of us we realized we would be the perfect group to do this. We wanted to do something out of the norm and a little different than what we do every day, to get our creative juices flowing and just have fun."
A natural drive to unleash their skills, Bayley adds, "RAW was an amazing event for Cleveland that showcased newer talent, and I was hungry to be more artistic, so it really opened my eyes and got me excited to do shows again."
Catching her photos from the Brown Aveda Earth Month Fashion Show, RAW reached out to Monica to help emulate their boundary-pushing mission. Having a passion for the environment, the trio constructed a theme that brought awareness to its vibrant beauty and importance.
Monica explains, "Being able to be extravagant and showcase what we can do really stood out to us, so we tried to translate that to our models, riding on the coattails of Aveda's mission to create concern for how we treat the world around us. We wanted to personify water, plants, and earth, to bring that triangle to life and make it relatable. You see this as a person now, a life form, not just something you can abuse and throw away."
Grateful for the opportunity, the trio was also sure to mention, "We want to thank everyone at the salon for giving us the freedom to do this and supporting us through it. Without that support, this project wouldn't have happened and been as successful as it was. It's been truly amazing!"
